Dan Benedict Galvez had been arguing with a woman around 6:50 a.m. on May 29 at Shoppers Best Way near Worth Avenue, where Good Samaritans had stopped to assist, Prince William County police said.

During the encounter, an argument escalated at which point Galvez fired a handgun into the air, police said. Later that day, officers found Galvez and detained him without incident.

He was found in possession of the firearm believed to have been used in the earlier incident, as well as, drugs, items consistent with distribution, and ammunition, according to police.

Further investigation found the firearm was previously reported stolen out of Prince William County. Galvez was arrested and charged with reckless handling of a firearm, possession of stolen firearm, and possession with intent to distribute schedule IV drug.
